Tips and checklist to go through why your phone either isn't connecting or does not connect the same every time
There's a couple of issues that could be happening if your phone is not connecting. We'll go through them by common issues:
My phone is not connecting:
1. Check your phone is Qi wireless charging compatible in a google search. As a guideline, all iPhones since 2017 (iPhone 8 and newer) have wireless charging and most Samsung Galaxy.
2. Check your device is working - See separate article on charger on working
3. Phone accessories: Does your phone have any metal plates or cases, card holder cases, credit cards, pop sockets?
4. Have you checked your phone alignment? The coil in each device is usually in the center of the phone and needs to be aligned with the center of the charger.
My phone sometimes connects and sometimes does not when i place it back on the charger?
When removing your phone from the charger, both coils need to discharge before reconnecting, causing a delay in wireless reconnection speed. To improve this, wait 2-3 seconds before placing your phone back on the charger. If it doesn't reconnect quickly, you can also leave it on the charger as it will go through the discharge and reconnection process within about 2-3 seconds. This will also be the case when placing a separate phone quickly on the charger after removing one.
Tip:
Use your alignment tool to ensure that your charger is working and sticker is correctly aligned as most connecting issues are related to placement error.
